In order to play the Spectrum games you need to download
an emulator. Only once you have an emulator running
can you play the original games. Please note, an emulator
is not required to play the retro games.

There are a number of emulators which can be
used to play the games, and all do the job just
as well. If you have problems using one emulator
then simply try another. If you are still having
problems after reading any help files included,
then e-mail
me and I'll try to help.

If you decide to use the X128 emulator then you will
need to have a copy of Dos4gw
on your system. Most systems should have this file,
however if it is not present then copy Dos4gw to the
same directory as the X128 emulator. Once unzipped,
double-click the file X128.exe to run, and then F5 or
F7 (after the Speccy screen has appeared) to load the
different types of game files.
Note, before you can use these emulators (and the game
files), you must unzip them. If you do not have a copy
of Winzip to do this then download if from the Winzip
website.

Macintosh versions
The Spec256 emulator enables 256 colour versions of
old Spectrum games to be played. The results are quite
stunning, as can be seen from the Knightlore screenshots
below, although current snapshots of games will not
work in the 256 colour mode - new versions have to be
downloaded (see the games
section). For more information, visit the Emulatronia
site.
